If you’re looking to spend quality time together, you’ll need the perfect base. Chala Number 6 is a fantastic option, as it offers beautiful suites, an on-site restaurant and bar, an outdoor swimming pool, and a spa.
Da Nang, Vietnam

Koh Lanta, Thailand
Koh Lanta is a serene island in the Andaman Sea, on the west coast of South Thailand. Perhaps you’ve only heard of Phuket, just 2 hours away by boat, but Koh Lanta is a lot more peaceful, slow, and perfect for a couple’s romantic getaway.
Koh Lanta is famous for its pretty beaches, colorful sunsets, and laid-back vibe. Yes, beach parties exist for those who want to mingle with the crowd but couples looking to unwind and reconnect will find an ideal setting. It’s an island with a more intimate and relaxed atmosphere.
Valentine’s Day is a popular holiday in Thailand and Koh Lanta is no exception. Some resorts on the island host special dinners on the beach, complete with candlelit settings, live music, and the slow shush of the waves.
Some of the must-do activities include:
- Snorkeling around the nearby Koh Rok islands

For accommodation, Pimalai Resort & Spa is a top choice for luxury-seeking couples. It’s both private and luxurious. Hidden within its own tropical forest, surrounded by greenery and the sounds of nature. It’s situated on a hill overlooking the beach and the views are supreme!
Foodies should try the restaurant L. Maladee. It’s famous for its exceptional seafood dishes. But really, you cannot go wrong with any family-style eatery along the main road where local Thai chefs have perfected the green and red curries.
Koh Lipe, Thailand
Escape the crowds and visit Koh Lipe, the “Maldives of Thailand”, for crystal clear water, white sandy beaches and a paradise island feel.
This tiny and secluded tropical island in the southwest of Thailand is perfect for adventurers and beach lovers alike. There are plenty of things to do, especially if you love exploring tropical beaches and the underwater world.

Koh Lipe doesn’t have any high-rise hotels or sprawling resorts so expect beachfront bungalows, rustic amenities and a laidback atmosphere. Combined with the selection of beach bars and massage parlours, this makes the island perfect for a tropical honeymoon or a quiet romantic getaway.
Stay at Bulow Casa Grand View Resort for a taste of modern luxury with Balinese-style bungalows that have wrap-around pools and incredible beach views. Enjoy floating breakfasts in your private pool while looking out over the turquoise water.

Koh Lipe has gained a reputation as one of the most romantic islands in Thailand and is the perfect place for couples looking to unwind together.
Koh Phangan, Thailand
Koh Phangan can be anything you make out of it, especially if you have a heart for romance. The whole eastern coast of the island offers killer sunsets. You can watch them simply from any beach from Hin Kong to Haad Yao or even from a rooftop bar. For the best experience, pick either Secret Mountain Bar or Three Sixty Bar.
If you express love through partying, you can do so in Koh Phangan even outside the usual monthly Full Moon parties. There’s always something going on, especially in the Haad Rin area in the southeast of the island.
Hiking is another amazing pastime activity on Koh Phangan. Plenty of hiking trails crisscross the green heart of the island. You can even hike to the secluded Bottle Beach (and then take a boat back, or vice versa) or climb to the highest peak of the island – Khao Ra.
A hippie vibe can be felt throughout the Sri Thanu area, which comes complete with plenty of yoga centers and vegan places to eat. If you had to choose one place to go for some yoga and lovely vegan dishes, make it Orion, located conveniently on a beach in a lush setting.
While in Koh Phangan, don’t miss out on delicacies of the local cuisine. You can visit the popular market in Thong Sala, the biggest village on the island. That’s where you can have all Thai specialties of excellent quality, including mango sticky rice and pad thai.
Koh Phangan has its fair share of luxury resorts, which provide the perfect setting for love to flourish. Kupu Kupu Phangan is a perfect small resort on the western coast, while Santhiya is rather off the beaten path on the eastern coast and feels like a luxurious little village within a jungle on the coast.
Kyoto, Japan
Kyoto, Japan, is a city that seems tailor-made for romance, with its timeless beauty, serene landscapes, and cultural richness. While it’s not the typical pristine beach getaway, Kyoto offers an atmosphere of elegance and intimacy that’s hard to match. For couples who love history and old-world charm, Kyoto can be one of the most romantic places in Asia.
The city’s historic charm is best experienced while strolling through the Arashiyama Bamboo Grove or crossing the Togetsukyo Bridge, especially during sunrise or sunset. Hand in hand, couples can explore traditional streets like Ninenzaka and Sannenzaka, lined with charming tea houses and boutique shops. Kyoto’s famed Kiyomizu-dera Temple provides breathtaking views of the city, particularly during cherry blossom season or autumn, when nature paints the landscape in romantic hues.
Kyoto’s cultural twist on Valentine’s Day celebrations is a delight for those visiting on or around that time. In Japan, Valentine’s Day is a time when women give chocolates to their partners, friends, or colleagues, and the gesture is returned a month later on White Day. Many sweet shops in Kyoto, such as those in Nishiki Market, offer beautifully crafted chocolates and traditional wagashi (Japanese sweets) that make thoughtful gifts. Couples can also book an evening kaiseki dinner in a traditional ryokan, savoring Kyoto’s renowned cuisine in an intimate setting.
A romantic boat ride along the Hozugawa River or a visit to the tranquil gardens of Ginkaku-ji Temple further enhances the experience. Kyoto’s blend of natural beauty, historical allure, and Valentine’s Day traditions creates a perfect escape for couples seeking romance in every moment.
Ooty, India
If your idea of a romantic getaway in Asia involves strolling, hand-in-hand, through lush green landscapes, Ooty in South India is the perfect destination. Known as the “Queen of Hills” in India, Ooty is a paradise for nature-loving couples, with verdant hills of rolling tea plantations, serene lakes, and beautiful gardens. In Ooty, you can take a romantic drive around the tea plantations, winding through the hills and stopping at your favorite scenic spots for photos. Some couples even go so far as to hire professional photographers to capture stunning moments against the picture-perfect landscapes of Ooty.
Ooty’s lakes offer boating facilities, and some even feature special couple’s paddle boats designed to look like swans with a heart in the middle, adding a unique touch to your experience. One of Ooty’s most popular attractions is the UNESCO World Heritage train ride offered by the Nilgiri Mountain Railway, which takes you on a scenic journey through nearby mountains, with mist drifting in and out like clouds. This five-hour train ride is sure to transport any couple into a romantic paradise!
Ooty was once the summer retreat of the British in India, and it still retains much of its colonial charm. While in Ooty, make sure to visit Earl’s Street, a colonial mansion turned fine dining restaurant. Their cheesecake is a must-try! For the most romantic stay in Ooty, I recommend Savoy by IHCL SeleQtions, a hidden gem nestled in the hills. This resort is ideal for couples, with Victorian high-ceiling rooms featuring antique woodwork and large French windows. During Valentine’s week, they go the extra mile with special couple’s spa treatments and romantic dinner hampers to make your stay unforgettable.
Perhentian Islands, Malaysia
Located just off the east coast of the Malaysian peninsula, the Perhentian Islands are a perfect romantic destination to visit in Asia and can’t be missed on any Malaysia itinerary. Already the boat ride to the island just before sunrise, will leave you in awe. Once you arrive on either Perhentian Basar or Perhentian Kecil, you realize why this is the perfect romantic getaway. Both islands are small and full of secluded beaches where you can watch the sunset sipping a coconut on the beach without a crowd of tourists spoiling your intimate moment.
There are no large hotel complexes on the islands, just small hotels and resorts. You can stroll along the beaches for hours, go snorkeling and admire the corals, colorful fish and even reef sharks. If you truly love water, why head on a diving adventure with your partner? Chances are you may see sea turtles. And of course, enjoy fresh tropical fruits by the beach and delicious Malaysian dinner in the evenings while the sun tints the horizon in a deep orange.
So the Perhentian Islands are both for adventure couples, foodies and those who enjoy endless days by the beach. Don’t miss trying Roti Canai – a Malaysian savory pancake served with curry to dip into and Kuey Teow – fried rice noodles with egg, seafood, and chilies. A great place for dinner is Keranji Beach Café, located directly on Mira beach. And the most magical place to stay is BuBu Villa, a high-end resort where you both can get pampered, enjoy some l if you feel like getting really pampered and enjoying some luxury like a massage on the beach.
Phuket Old Town, Thailand
Phuket Old Town is an ideal destination for couples seeking a memorable getaway in Asia. The area is dotted with charming cafes and restaurants, with Aungku Phuket cafe standing out as a must-visit spot. Its exterior, adorned with vibrant pink roses, creates a picturesque backdrop perfect for capturing romantic moments. Inside, the cafe delights visitors with an array of beautifully crafted cakes, each decorated with edible flowers. Additionally, the enchanting decor featuring hanging blossoms sets a dreamy atmosphere that invites couples to enjoy each other’s company.
For those planning a romantic escape around Valentine’s Day, reserving a table at Tantitium restaurant is essential. This stylish venue offers a special three-course dinner that promises to be an unforgettable experience. Couples can indulge in a delightful meal while enjoying the option of karaoke or even a soothing Thai massage, making it a perfect way to celebrate love. The combination of exquisite dining and unique entertainment ensures that every moment spent here is filled with joy and connection.
Phuket Old Town caters to a variety of couples, from food enthusiasts to history buffs and architecture lovers. The area showcases a fascinating blend of Chinese and Portuguese architectural styles, captivating those with an appreciation for design. Couples can explore the historic Phuket Old Town City Hall, visit the serene Mongkhon Nimit Temple, or pay their respects at the Saeng Tham Shrine. For accommodations, Baan Sutra Guesthouse offers a cozy retreat just a short stroll from the romantic Soi Rommani street. As you wander along Thalang Road, the pastel-colored buildings provide a stunning backdrop for romantic photos, making every moment in this enchanting town truly special.
Seoul, South Korea
Seoul feels like it was designed for two! Couples take over the city, and if you take a late afternoon walk at Han River in the late afternoon you will see it for yourself. The city is filled with scenic parks, trendy cafes, and has a cute photo-booth at every corner. The calm and silent vibe of the city creates a dreamy atmosphere that makes you feel inside a romantic K-drama!
Korean couples celebrate love-holidays throughout the year, and Korea even has a unique spin on Valentine’s Day traditions! On Valentines Day (February 14), women give chocolate to their partners, and one month later, on “White Day” (March 14), men reciprocate by gifting candy. Then, on November 11, couples celebrate Pepero Day, exchanging Pepero snacks, which are similar to Pocky sticks. Christmas is another “couple’s holiday” in Korea, when they typically exchange gifts and go out for a nice dinner.
These romantic customs along with the many date options available in town make Seoul an amazing destination for couples. Some of the best lovebird experiences in Seoul include:
- Dressing up in Hanbok and exploring Gyeongbokgung Palace. Entry is free with a Hanbok rental (around $15 near the entrance).
- Sharing a cozy bowl of ramen by the Han River, soaking up the views with locals.
- Shopping at Coex Mall and visiting the stunning Starfield Library.
For couples who enjoy binge-watching K-drama, Seoul feels like a dream come true, with multiple sights and activities that allow them to live their own Korean romance. Food-loving couples will also enjoy visiting Seoul, as the city’s rich culinary landscape offers endless date night spots. A local favorite food-experience is eating Han jeong sik at Myeongin Bapsang!
During your trip to Seoul, I recommend staying at Shilla Stay Gangnam for a well-located yet calm stay.
