Koh Rong Sanloem, Cambodia

An idyllic tropical island with calm turquoise waters, palm-fringed beaches and white sands, Koh Rong Sanloem is the perfect romantic destination in Asia. This gorgeous island in Cambodia is the ideal place to unwind and get away from it all with that special person.

Couples can go there to swim at the beach, relax by the resort pool, and eat mangoes and fresh coconuts. Lush green rainforests cover the island and the more adventurous will enjoy exploring the walking trails around the island discovering the lovely beaches and lookout points.

Beautiful sunsets over the water and romantic beach walks are on the cards. Hire a boat and enjoy snorkelling, fishing or visiting neighbouring Koh Rong, a more developed island with even more glorious beaches to enjoy.

Ko Rong Sanloem offers peace and tranquillity while the neighbouring island Koh Rong, is known for its full-moon beach parties and is popular with backpackers  Access to both islands is by boat, although an airport will be operating on Koh Rong before long.

Saracen Bay on Ko Rong Sanloem offers a selection of beachfront resorts and restaurants with a chilled-out vibe. Stay in comfort at the Eden Resort, eat in at the hotel or wander up the beach to Sara Resort for a meal.

The only access to Ko Rong Sanloem island is by boat and ferries leave regularly from Sihanoukville on mainland Cambodia. To get there, take the Buva Sea Ferry from Sihanoukville port to the Eden Pier on Saracen Bay.

Koh Lanta, Thailand

Koh Lipe doesn’t have any high-rise hotels or sprawling resorts so expect beachfront bungalows, rustic amenities and a laidback atmosphere. Combined with the selection of beach bars and massage parlours, this makes the island perfect for a tropical honeymoon or a quiet romantic getaway.

Koh Phangan, Thailand

Koh Phangan can be anything you make out of it, especially if you have a heart for romance. The whole eastern coast of the island offers killer sunsets. You can watch them simply from any beach from Hin Kong to Haad Yao or even from a rooftop bar. For the best experience, pick either Secret Mountain Bar or Three Sixty Bar.

If you express love through partying, you can do so in Koh Phangan even outside the usual monthly Full Moon parties. There’s always something going on, especially in the Haad Rin area in the southeast of the island.

Hiking is another amazing pastime activity on Koh Phangan. Plenty of hiking trails crisscross the green heart of the island. You can even hike to the secluded Bottle Beach (and then take a boat back, or vice versa) or climb to the highest peak of the island – Khao Ra.

A hippie vibe can be felt throughout the Sri Thanu area, which comes complete with plenty of yoga centers and vegan places to eat. If you had to choose one place to go for some yoga and lovely vegan dishes, make it Orion, located conveniently on a beach in a lush setting.

While in Koh Phangan, don’t miss out on delicacies of the local cuisine. You can visit the popular market in Thong Sala, the biggest village on the island. That’s where you can have all Thai specialties of excellent quality, including mango sticky rice and pad thai.

Koh Phangan has its fair share of luxury resorts, which provide the perfect setting for love to flourish. Kupu Kupu Phangan is a perfect small resort on the western coast, while Santhiya is rather off the beaten path on the eastern coast and feels like a luxurious little village within a jungle on the coast.

Kyoto, Japan

Ooty, India

Perhentian Islands, Malaysia

Located just off the east coast of the Malaysian peninsula, the Perhentian Islands are a perfect romantic destination to visit in Asia and can’t be missed on any Malaysia itinerary. Already the boat ride to the island just before sunrise, will leave you in awe. Once you arrive on either Perhentian Basar or Perhentian Kecil, you realize why this is the perfect romantic getaway. Both islands are small and full of secluded beaches where you can watch the sunset sipping a coconut on the beach without a crowd of tourists spoiling your intimate moment.

There are no large hotel complexes on the islands, just small hotels and resorts. You can stroll along the beaches for hours, go snorkeling and admire the corals, colorful fish and even reef sharks. If you truly love water, why head on a diving adventure with your partner? Chances are you may see sea turtles. And of course, enjoy fresh tropical fruits by the beach and delicious Malaysian dinner in the evenings while the sun tints the horizon in a deep orange.

So the Perhentian Islands are both for adventure couples, foodies and those who enjoy endless days by the beach. Don’t miss trying Roti Canai – a Malaysian savory pancake served with curry to dip into and Kuey Teow – fried rice noodles with egg, seafood, and chilies. A great place for dinner is Keranji Beach Café, located directly on Mira beach. Phuket Old Town, Thailand

Seoul feels like it was designed for two! Couples take over the city, and if you take a late afternoon walk at Han River in the late afternoon you will see it for yourself. The city is filled with scenic parks, trendy cafes, and has a cute photo-booth at every corner. The calm and silent vibe of the city creates a dreamy atmosphere that makes you feel inside a romantic K-drama!

Korean couples celebrate love-holidays throughout the year, and Korea even has a unique spin on Valentine’s Day traditions! On Valentines Day (February 14), women give chocolate to their partners, and one month later, on “White Day” (March 14), men reciprocate by gifting candy. Then, on November 11, couples celebrate Pepero Day, exchanging Pepero snacks, which are similar to Pocky sticks. Christmas is another “couple’s holiday” in Korea, when they typically exchange gifts and go out for a nice dinner.

These romantic customs along with the many date options available in town make Seoul an amazing destination for couples. Some of the best lovebird experiences in Seoul include:

• Dressing up in Hanbok and exploring Gyeongbokgung Palace. Entry is free with a Hanbok rental (around $15 near the entrance).
• Sharing a cozy bowl of ramen by the Han River, soaking up the views with locals.
• Shopping at Coex Mall and visiting the stunning Starfield Library.

For couples who enjoy binge-watching K-drama, Seoul feels like a dream come true, with multiple sights and activities that allow them to live their own Korean romance. Food-loving couples will also enjoy visiting Seoul, as the city’s rich culinary landscape offers endless date night spots. A local favorite food-experience is eating Han jeong sik at Myeongin Bapsang!
