How do we know it’s ethical?

Six Senses Ninh Van Bay prioritizes sustainability and ethical wildlife encounters. In Vietnam, it partners with the NGO Green Viet to protect the threatened species of black-shanked douc langurs. The resort’s hikes are designed to minimize environmental impact, avoiding direct contact with the langurs. Since 2020, the local langur population has grown from 109 to 170. This growth is a testament to the resort’s successful conservation initiatives, making this experience both ethical and impactful.

Description of the Experience

Your journey begins with a morning hike led by Ms. Quynh, the resident biologist who has an intimate knowledge of the local ecosystem. The hike, lasting about two hours, takes you through the lush, protected jungle that surrounds the resort. As you trek through the forest, Ms. Quynh shares her expertise on the diverse flora and fauna, including the 19 plant species that the langurs feed on and the intricate behaviors of these primates.

With binoculars from the resort, you can see black-shanked douc langurs in the wild. They have become very curious in the past years, so you might see them with your own eyes too. These langurs are naturally shy, while you might encounter them, they will keep a safe distance. You will notice that the guide makes these experiences non-intrusive and allows the langurs to go about their daily lives undisturbed.

Company/ Cost:

This exclusive experience is offered by Six Senses Ninh Van Bay directly during your stay with them. The cost for the Langur’s Discovery hike is USD 75 for two guests. This fee contributes to the resort’s ongoing conservation efforts, supporting both the protection of the langurs and the preservation of the broader ecosystem.
