When deciding between Global Entry and TSA PreCheck, it is important to consider the benefits and renewal frequency of each program. Global Entry includes TSA PreCheck, so the decision should be based on whether you primarily travels domestically or internationally.
TSA PreCheck offers benefits such as expedited security screening, no need to remove shoes, laptops, liquids, belts, and light jackets, and is valid for 5 years. However, if you frequently travel internationally and want expedited customs and immigration clearance as well, then Global Entry would be the more beneficial choice.
The ‘frequently’ part is usually where people get stuck. For me, $100 for 5 years is $20/year – if I travel once a year internationally, that’s worth it to me. I usually travel 2-3 times internationally every year, so it’s definitely worth it.
