Ogunquit Beach, Maine

Not only is Ogunquit home to one of the most beautiful beaches in Maine, but it’s also one of the best beach towns in New England! This small little town sits on the coastline of southern Maine and is packed with so much charm around every corner. But of course, the biggest draw is the 3-mile-long Ogunquit Beach. In fact, it was even named one of the top 25 beaches in the U.S. by TripAdvisor!

This beach’s shoreline along the Atlantic Ocean has soft, powdery sand, and is even walkable from most of the shops, restaurants, and hotels in town. So, most visitors won’t even need to worry about parking rates and fees, making it easy to visit.

At the beach, you’ll also find bathrooms, outdoor showers, food concessions, and beach chair and umbrella rentals.

When you’re not at the beach, you’ll want to be sure to explore the cute little downtown area, dine at the awesome restaurants (don’t forget to get a Maine lobster roll!), and walk the scenic Marginal Way path along the coast. If you happen to have a rainy day when you visit, you can enjoy the exhibits at the Ogunquit Museum of Art, or take in a show at the Ogunquit Playhouse.

Ogunquit’s location in Maine is also perfect because it’s only about 25 minutes from Kennebunkport, and 15 minutes from Wells, which is home to more beaches and great antique shops.

One of the best places to stay in Ogunquit is the Anchorage By The Sea, which has a wonderful lawn facing the ocean and also connects to Marginal Way.

Nahant Beach, Massachusetts

While Cape Cod may be the sweetheart for Massachusetts beaches and summertime fun, there are tons of other beautiful beaches you should check out that are so much closer to Boston.

Nahant Beach is just a 30-minute drive from the city and offers an expansive stretch of sand buffered by dunes. Lots of MA beaches are very rocky, but Nahant is not one of them!

It’s ideal for those who enjoy beach walks (at any time of day or year) and is a popular spot for families due to its calm, shallow water.

This is also a perfect sunrise beach if you’re an early bird. And you can also enjoy views of the Boston skyline and even watch the planes landing at Logan Airport just across the bay.

There is plenty of parking at Nahant, but try to visit during the week or early on a weekend to avoid a line to get in — aim to be there before 10am.

There are Porta Potties available at various points along the beach, but no showers, so plan accordingly.

At the end of the beach toward Little Nahant (the side where you enter the parking lot), you’ll find Tides restaurant, which offers dine-in or take-out service. If you want more options for lunch or dinner nearby, drive just a few minutes up the road to Mission on the Bay in Swampscott for waterfront views.

Want to continue on an adventure from Boston? Drive from Nahant to Salem in just 20 minutes and stay at the iconic Daniels House Bed and Breakfast to experience more of this historic area.

Cape Cod, Massachusetts

Cape Cod, MA is a uniquely shaped peninsula on the Southeastern side of Massachusetts.  What makes Cape Cod one of the best beach destinations is the variety of beaches to choose from, unique towns to stay in and a plethora of activities to enjoy all summer long.  From the calm waters of the bayside beaches, to the exciting Atlantic Ocean beaches, perfect waves for boogie boarding or surfing.

While there are many beaches to choose from on Cape Cod, one of the best beaches is Mayflower beach on the Cape Cod Bay.  This beach has everything you need for an incredible day, from a full snack shop serving up food from breakfast to dinner, bathroom and shower facilities, and miles of soft sand and calm waters.

There are so many incredible things to do on Cape Cod besides the beach!  Every summer the Cape Cod Baseball League comes to town and games are played almost daily in June and July.  You can also take a Whale Watching cruise out of Provincetown or Hyannis, catch a show at the Cape Cod Playhouse, or go shopping in Chatham through their boutique shops on Main Street.

Cape Cod offers so many activities for the adventurous type.  You can hike one of the many hiking trails, rent a bike and ride on the 25-mile-long rail trail, or kayak down one of the Cape Cod rivers.  After a busy day, grab ice cream at one of the many ice cream shops along the Cape, where many offer delicious homemade ice cream!

South Beach, Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts

Off the coast of Cape Cod, Massachusetts, Martha’s Vineyard is known as a top beach destination in the Northeast, and that’s due in large part to the absolutely breathtaking South Beach (sometimes also called Katama Beach).

This beach is a barrier beach, so on one side you’ll find the Atlantic Ocean, and on the other, gentle surf along Katama Bay. For 3 miles, this beach offers soft sand along the shoreline, as well as beautiful sand dune landscapes that New England is known for.

While there aren’t a lot of amenities at South Beach, that’s part of the appeal. You’ll find the basics like lifeguards and bathrooms, but nothing else, which adds to the natural beauty and seclusion of the beach. One great bonus, however, is that parking is free along the road.

When you need a break from the beach, one of the best things to do on Martha’s Vineyard is explore each of the towns. Oak Bluffs is known for the adorable gingerbread cottages, and in Edgartown, you’ll find old-world charm, along with great shopping and Edgartown Lighthouse.

One thing to not miss, though, is a trip to the other side of the island to see the famous cliffs and Gay Head lighthouse in Aquinnah. Close by, you can also shoot over to Menemsha, a quaint little fishing village, for fresh seafood and a gorgeous sunset at Menemsha Beach.

One of the best places to stay on the island is the Vineyard Square Hotel & Suites in Edgartown. This hotel is walkable to the shops and restaurants downtown, and offers complimentary use of beach supplies (including chairs and umbrellas), and bicycles to explore town.

Fire Island, New York

Located off the coast of Long Island, Fire Island National Seashore is an incredible island with so much to explore. The island has lots of beaches and several settlements and the majority of the island is designated as a national seashore. Even within the national seashore, there are several towns that one can visit. However, in terms of preservation, much of the island is closed to motorized vehicles (unless you have a permit). The beach on fire island runs the length of the 31-mile island and there are plenty of spots to stop and explore. Often you can even find parts of the beach to get some level of seclusion as well.

There are quite a few towns on the island to explore including the town of Kismet, Fair Harbor, Ocean Beach, Watch Hill, Fire Island Pines, among several others. The towns have various restaurants, homes, and historical sites that are worth wandering and exploring as well. Getting to the island is possible in several ways. There is regular ferry service from Long Island to several of the Fire Island communities, in addition, visitors can walk to parts of Fire Island National Seashore from Robert Moses Beach or the Fire Island Visitor Center on Smith Point. Even in inclement weather, there are things to do on the island. There’s the fire island lighthouse which has regular tours and information on the history of the lighthouse.

There are lots of streets to wander and restaurants visitors can dine among the various settlements on the island. There are tours of the historic William Floyd Estate, the 250-year-old manor on the island. There are also activities and exhibits at the various Fire Island Visitor Centers on the island.

Robert Moses State Park, New York

As close to a tropical paradise as one can get in New York, Robert Moses State Park is in Southern Long Island on the western end of Fire Island, a barrier island. Robert Moses State Park offers 5 miles of nearly white sand beaches with four different “fields.” The white sand and clean water make this one of the best beaches on the East Coast. Each field has its own parking area and plenty of facilities. You will find lifeguards, restrooms, showers, beach bars, concession stands, picnic areas, and grills along the beach.  At Robert Moses State Park you can enjoy swimming, surfing, fishing, crabbing, an 18-hole golf course, and picnicking.

Another thing that makes Robert Moses a great beach destination is its proximity to the Fire Island Lighthouse. The lighthouse is located on the Fire Island National Seashore, a federally designated wilderness area. Off the parking area in field 5, visitors have access to a 0.75-mile boardwalk that takes you to the lighthouse. Once you reach the lighthouse, you can climb to the top for stunning views. The Fire Island National Seashore offers ample opportunities for outdoor activities, including hiking, wildlife viewing, boating, biking, and fishing.

When visiting Robert Moses, you will also be a short drive from many of Long Island’s other attractions. Within driving distance you will find botanical gardens, the Long Island Children’s Museum, Adventureland (a theme park containing classic amusement park rides), and if you want to drive a little bit further the Long Island Aquarium.

The Fire Island Beach House is an excellent choice for lodging when visiting Robert Moses beaches. Located on the Fire Island National Seashore, the Beach House offers traditional hotel rooms and cottages right on the beach. Because it is located on the national seashore, the Beach House is only reachable by ferry.

Long Beach, New York

When traveling along the East Coast of the US, you have to add Long Beach to your beach list. This popular beach is located in Nassau County, on Long Island, New York.

This beach is loved by locals and tourists because not only does it have one of the best boardwalks and long sandy beaches, but it also has easy access to the boroughs, including NYC, which is just about a 45-minute train ride away. In fact, this beach is easily one of the best things to do on Long Island!

The beach is 3.5 miles long, and you’ll find visitors surfing, enjoying lunch, and sunbathing. A children’s park is nearby for families, and vibrant nightlife is just moments away.

Aside from spending time at the beach, there are a plethora of activities to be enjoyed. For example, connect with your body in yoga classes, try out their recently installed trapeze, or take a bike ride around the surrounding areas.

On a rainy day, you can choose from various restaurants and spend time browsing in the shops. The restaurants around Long Beach offer some of the best seafood!

The beach is safe with lifeguards on duty from 9 am to 6 pm. There are also toilets available throughout the boardwalk.

In terms of where to stay, there are many vacation rentals or hotels to choose from. A great hotel is the Allegria Hotel, located on the 2.1-mile boardwalk and is just 11 miles away from the John. F Kennedy Airport. While here, you can taste delicious gourmet food as well as have access to their rooftop pool.

To access the beach, the Long Island Railroad drops you off right by the beach and takes around 45 minutes from Penn Station in Manhattan.

Lavallette, New Jersey

Lavallette, New Jersey is one of the best Northeast beaches in the United States. Located less than two hours south of New York City, Lavallette features a beautiful oceanfront beach and a stunning bayside.

The best place to stay at Lavallette Beach is at the Lamplight Motel, and the top restaurants are The Crabs Claw Inn and Lobster Dock for seafood, Lenny’s for pizza and Italian food, Ohana Grill for Hawaiian cuisine, and The Parlor for ice cream!

Lavallette is one of the top beaches on the Jersey Shore because it has some of the best white sand! It’s soft and easy to walk barefoot on versus other beaches with dirt-like sand, where you must wear flip-flops to get to the water. During the summer season, you can sunbathe, ride the waves, surf, boogie board, skimboard, and play fun beach games like corn hole, volleyball, paddle ball, and more.

What also makes Lavallette one of the best Northeast beach towns in the U.S. is that it’s near Seaside Heights and Point Pleasant Beach, which boast exciting boardwalks with fun rides, arcade games, food stands, and shops. Seaside Heights, only a five-minute drive from Lavallette, also has a waterpark to enjoy!

Other memorable things to do in Lavallette are to go mini golfing at Lava Golf, watch a sunset on the Barnegat Bay, adventure through the nearby Island Beach State Park, shop at one of the many boutiques on Lavallette’s Grand Central Avenue, and see a performance at The Music Man Singing Ice Cream Shoppe.

You cannot go wrong with a vacation in Lavallette, New Jersey! It’s a great family shore town that offers fun for all ages.

Rehoboth Beach, Delaware

Rehoboth Beach, located in southern Delaware, is easily one of the best beaches to visit on the East Coast of the USA. Rehoboth has it all: family-friendly attractions, a fantastic beach scene, delectable dining, and other nearby beaches for continued adventures.

The amenities at Rehoboth Beach are second to none. Stroll along the boardwalk and Multiple restrooms, bath houses, and outdoor showers are available on the boardwalk so that you can use the beach comfortably!

The boardwalk at Rehoboth is the place to go if you have kids! The most popular place to visit is Funland, a family-fun amusement park with rides and games for kids of all ages. Of course, an evening along the beach wouldn’t be complete without a good old-fashioned pinball game at the boardwalk arcade. Before you’re finished, make sure you grab some of Delaware’s famous Thrasher’s Boardwalk fries, Grotto’s pizza, or Kohr’s brothers soft serve ice cream. These three foodie options will instantly fill you with beach nostalgia- and they’re delicious!

But the boardwalk is just the beginning of the charm. Fondly dubbed “the Avenue,” the downtown streets that jut off the boardwalk area are filled with fine dining options like the fantastic Stingrays Sushi, beach shops, and adorable hotels. Take some time after you visit the beach to stroll along the streets, popping into one of the numerous cafes or local joints for happy hour and stay at the Atlantic Sands hotel for stunning beachfront access!

Don’t forget to take a spin by the Tanger Outlets- three full outdoor malls packed with stores like Vineyard Vines, Adidas, and Under Armor always have amazing deals.

If you’re looking for nightlife, Rehoboth Beach has the most popular LGBTQ+ bar in the state, the Purple Parrot, which has drink specials and dancing every night! You can also head to nearby Dewey Beach- this is where the local party scene is, with bars, DJs, and live music to heat up summer nights near Rehoboth Beach.

Colonial Beach, Virginia

Colonial Beach, VA may not be as famous as Virginia Beach, but it is one of the best, hidden gem beaches in Virginia. The beach is located along the Potomac River in the Northern Neck, which makes it a convenient beach option for vacationers leaving from Northern Virginia or Richmond.

One of the great characteristics of Colonial Beach is that it actually features several distinct beach areas to explore. North Beach is a great choice if you’re looking for a quieter beach vacation, while Downtown Boardwalk Beach is a popular location for water sports, restaurants, and shopping. Castlewood Beach is a great family-friendly destination, with a dog park, playground, and picnic tables.

Colonial Beach features a boardwalk where you can find restaurants like the Black Pearl Tiki Bar and High Tides on the Potomac. The boardwalk is also the place to go for fishing charters, boat tours, and water sports rentals.

Colonial Beach is also famous for its unique history as the birthplace of three presidents: George Washington, James Madison, and James Monroe. Visitors can explore the George Washington Birthplace Monument, which is also designated as a National Park. The James Monroe Birthplace Park & Museum is in the process of rebuilding the founding father’s childhood home, but in the meantime, visitors can still walk around the lovely grounds.

Colonial Beach is also home to several excellent wineries, including the award-winning Ingleside Vineyards and Monroe Bay Winery. Ice House Brewery & Kitchen is another great destination for a meal and a brew with beautiful water views. You can even reach the restaurant by boat.

When visiting the area, the charming Colonial Beach Plaza Bed & Breakfast is an excellent choice located right near the beach. It features lovely rooms filled with historic decor and details.

Atlantic Beach, North Carolina

Atlantic Beach is one of the best beaches along the East Coast as it’s located in North Carolina on what’s known as the Crystal Coast. It’s perfect because even in the middle of summer the beach isn’t typically crowded.

It’s quiet but still has plenty of amenities either on the island or in nearby Beaufort or Morehead City. Amos Mosquitos, The Island Grille, and Sub Tropics are some of the best places to eat in town but there are some amazing restaurants in Beaufort and Morehead City too.

If you aren’t staying right on the beach, then the best beach access is at Fort Macon State Park where there is free parking with a bathhouse and concession stand (both open seasonally).

Fort Macon is also a great place to hike – especially on the Elliott Coues Nature Trail – or you can check out the actual fort. Another popular thing to do nearby is visit the Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores which is just a 10-minute drive.

In nearby Beaufort, which is less than 15 minutes away, you can visit the NC Maritime Museum or take the Island Ferry Express over to the Rachel Carson Reserve where you can see wild horses. You can also rent a kayak and paddle across Taylor Creek to the Reserve.

One of the best places to stay in Atlantic Beach is at Atlantis Lodge which is a 1960s vintage lodge with many extra amenities like bikes, kayaks, and more.

Emerald Isle Beach, North Carolina

Emerald Isle is a charming beach community located on what is called the “southern Outer Banks” of North Carolina. A bridge connects the town to the mainland, providing easy access to Swansboro and Morehead City.

Of course, the main attraction of Emerald Isle is its 12 miles of pristine shoreline and its unique crystal-clear emerald-green waters, but there is a lot more to this beach community than sea, sand, surf, and sun! For instance, if you need something to do on a rainy day, you can spend hours at Emerald Plantation exploring its unique shops, feeding sea turtles from the dock or watching a movie at the Emerald Plantation Cinema.

You won’t find a boardwalk on Emerald Isle, but the Bogue Inlet Fishing Pier is probably the next best thing. Originally built in 1959, the pier is a popular landmark that stretches about 1,000 feet into the Atlantic Ocean. You can enjoy the natural wonders and history of Emerald Isle by taking advantage of numerous walking trails, or watching the free show that takes place every day at “The Point.” It’s called Sunset, and it’s quite a performance! (Parking is limited and it’s a long walk, so leave plenty of time).

There are plenty of house rentals on Emerald Isle, but if you’re looking for a hotel, the Islander Hotel and Resort is a popular destination. This beachfront hotel features a pool and pool bar, as well as free bike rentals to explore the area.

Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina

Located just a few miles east of Wilmington, Wrightsville Beach is one of the most beautiful beaches in North Carolina.

You simply can’t beat a beach day at Wrightsville Beach. With pristine sandy beaches, gorgeous blue water, and a variety of fun activities, Wrightsville has something for everyone. Visitors and locals alike love to swim in the ocean, search for seashells along the shore, and take in colorful sunrises and sunsets.

Wrightsville Beach has four public restrooms, seven ADA access points, and 13 lifeguard stands. While there is no boardwalk, the area around The Trolley Stop on North Lumina is a very walkable area with several cute shops and delicious restaurants.

There are only a handful of hotels on the island, but you can’t go wrong with a room at the oceanfront Blockade Runner Beach Resort. The best part about actually staying on Wrightsville Beach is that you won’t have to fight for parking!

Don’t worry if you don’t want to spend every day at the beach as there are a ton of fun things to do in Wrightsville Beach.

Explore the Intracoastal Waterway with an excursion to Masonboro Island, one of North Carolina’s best kept secrets. This protected uninhabited island (which is only accessible by boat) is very popular amongst locals for its secluded beaches, fishing, and even camping.

Love being active while on vacation? Walk or jog “The Loop” fitness trail with the locals, get out soundside to kayak or paddle-board, or catch some waves in one of the best surf destinations in the state.

You can also venture into the neighboring city of Wilmington. Explore the downtown area and Riverwalk, visit the stunning Airlie Gardens, the NC Battleship, and find out why Wilmington is also known as “Wilmy-wood.” (Hint: You definitely will recognize some of the famous filming locations in town!)

Whether you’re looking for an active vacation or a relaxing getaway on the east coast, Wrightsville Beach fits the bill.

Myrtle Beach, South Carolina

Myrtle Beach is one of the best beaches on the East Coast of the USA. Located in South Carolina, this vibrant coastal town offers an unforgettable beach experience that will leave you longing for more. With its pristine shoreline, abundant amenities, and many activities, Myrtle Beach is the perfect destination for sun-seekers and adventure enthusiasts alike.

One of the key reasons why Myrtle Beach stands out is its breathtaking coastline. Stretching for 60 miles, this sandy paradise offers ample space for relaxation, beach games, and long walks by the shore. The beach is well-maintained and provides various facilities to ensure comfort, including convenient beach access points, lifeguards on duty, and clean public restrooms.

In addition to the beach, Myrtle Beach has a vibrant boardwalk that serves as the heart of the town. Strolling along the bustling boardwalk, you can enjoy delicious local seafood, shop for souvenirs, and enjoy thrilling amusement rides.

On a rainy day, you can head to Broadway at the Beach, a sprawling entertainment complex featuring theatres, shopping outlets, and dining options. Explore Ripley’s Aquarium, where you can marvel at fascinating marine life or test your puzzle-solving skills at an escape room adventure.

When it comes to accommodation, I highly recommend the Ocean Reef Resort. This oceanfront hotel offers luxurious rooms with stunning views, a variety of pools, a lazy river, and a fantastic water park for the kids. With its exceptional service and convenient location, the Ocean Reef Resort is a top choice for a memorable stay in Myrtle Beach.

Folly Beach, South Carolina

Folly Beach is a barrier island on the coast of South Carolina. The little seaside town has an incredible community of small businesses along Main Street that bring the lazy beach to life.

Folly, as locals often shorten it, is easily one of the most popular beaches in the Charleston area. The beach itself is beautiful with calm waves to swim in and an expansive shore for sunbathing. Public bathrooms and showers are accessible at the new pier, and lifeguards are on duty nearby during peak season as well.

The newly built pier on Folly Beach is fun to explore. Snag a snack and stroll to see the daily catch of fisherman. Visitors can rent a rod from the tackle shop and try their hand at fishing for dinner.

Head down to the Washout to see locals surfing in the harsher waters that have slowly eaten away the northeastern tip of the island. Just a little further brings visitors to a wild unmanicured beach with bleached trees and views of the Morris Island Lighthouse. This end of the island gives a glimpse into the nickname of Folly Beach “The Edge of America”

Getting on and off this barrier island can be difficult with heavy traffic in the summertime, so stay at the Tides Hotel in Folly Beach. With beachside dining and a pool, plus ocean views with every room, it’s the perfect accommodation on the island.

Rainy days are a little different in the Lowcountry; visitors won’t want to brave the flooding and traffic for much. Rain is heavy but doesn’t typically last for more than a few hours so we recommend taking it easy in the room. The front desk even offers board games for those looking for a bit of fun while waiting it out.

Kiawah Beach, South Carolina

Kiawah is an island to escape the cares of work, responsibility, and routine. From the minute your bare toes sink into the sand and your eyes roam the long seacoast, you will feel an escape to the ocean life. Yet you are only a 30-minute drive to historic Charleston or a two-hour drive to Savannah, Georgia, to explore this South Carolina city plus its street bazaar, top-rated restaurants, and historic carriage rides.

The Kiawah Resort is a place where families return generation by generation so their children can build sand castles and their dogs can chase the waves. There are five golf courses to choose where to play. The Sanctuary at Kiawah Island is a 5-diamond rated resort to stay for a long weekend or a week. Forbes rates the Spa at Kiawah as five-star. The resort welcomed its first guests in 1976. Currently, Kiwah is renovating its five championship golf courses. In addition, the island-wide expansion will include new resort buildings and facilities for guests. Tennis players can book courts daily at the new Har-Tru Courts at the expanded Roy Barth Tennis Center, including personalized instructions.

Be sure to check out the Nest Market & Café to pick up your picnic basket lunch to take to the beach or a happy hour picnic. There are more than a dozen restaurants across the resort.

Burke’s Beach, Hilton Head, South Carolina

Burke’s Beach on Hilton Head Island is undeniably a spectacular beach particularly for families who like to splash around in the ocean and search for seashells.

Nestled along the breathtaking South Carolina coastline, Hilton Head is known for its sandy beaches, golf courses, and its relaxing and luxurious atmosphere. In fact, the island and its many beaches are ranked among the top family beaches in the United States.

Considered more of a “local’s beach” Burke’s Beach boasts soft, powdery sand, gentle waves, and an abundance of sunshine without the crowds that many other stretches of sand in Hilton Head tend to draw. The beach offers plenty of public parking and restrooms, plus tennis and basketball courts and a playground at the adjacent Chaplin Community Park.

Book a villa at Marriott’s SurfWatch to be within walking distance to the ocean, and spend your day swimming, paddleboarding, and searching for sand dollars – which are abundant at Burke’s Beach!

The beach, located on the northeast portion of the island is within a 1.5-mile drive or bike ride to a variety of restaurants and even a shopping center, where you can spend a day hunting for souvenirs from your Hilton Head vacation.

And if you tire of island activities or just want a change of pace for a while, you can spend a day in Savannah, Georgia, just a 45-minute drive away from Hilton Head.

Tybee Island, Georgia

If you’re seeking laid-back beach vibes, a trip to Tybee Island, Georgia might be just the ticket! The island is an approximate 30-minute drive from Savannah, and it’s filled with seafood restaurants, bars, and cute little souvenir shops.

There are four main beach areas on the island: North Beach, Mid Beach, South Beach, and the Back River Beach. You can often spot massive cargo ships sailing into port along North Beach, while the quiet Back River Beach is the ideal spot for a sunset stroll.

South Beach is the most popular beach. It’s where you’ll find the Tybee Island Pier and Pavilion, and the area has the highest concentration of bars, shops, and entertainment options. You can fish from the pier, but you will need a valid Georgia fishing license.

All of the ocean-facing beaches have nice boardwalks, parking areas, changing stations, and restrooms. They also have lifeguards stationed at intervals along the shoreline during peak tourism season. The back river area offers parking, but restrooms, parking, and lifeguards are harder to find.

If you’re looking for something unique to do, try visiting the Tybee Marine Science Center to learn about the endangered Loggerhead sea turtles that nest on the island or climb to the top of the Tybee Island Lighthouse to check out the views. It’s the oldest lighthouse in Georgia!

Stay at the DeSoto Beach Hotel for oceanfront views or pick the adorable Tybee Island Inn if you prefer more of a B&B type of experience.

Driftwood Beach, Georgia

Located about an hour and a half away from Savannah, Driftwood Beach is a picturesque beach on the northern end of Jekyll Island. It’s also easily one of the best beaches on the East Coast of the USA since it is known for the incredible driftwood that washes up on shore.

Now, you can find it on North Beachview Drive in between Clam Creek Picnic Area and Villas by the Sea Resort. It’s a tiny sandy oasis that is filled with gnarled trees and beach trees that make this place feel like an otherworldly graveyard – making this one of the prettiest beaches in Georgia

Additionally, you can go for a refreshing swim since the calm waves and shallow waters make this an ideal spot for a dip. Just be sure to time your visit for low tide so that you can make the most of your visit here. And if you’re looking for warm weather do try to visit between April and October. However, if you want some solitude then be sure to bundle up and visit between October and April.

In terms of facilities, there are none. So, if you need to use the restroom you’ll have to go to the Clam Creek Picnic Area a mile away. Then, after your visit be sure to check out other fun things to do on Jekyll Island like Summer Waves Water Park, Beach Village, Jekyll Island Mini Gold and Bike Barn, and the Georgia Sea Turtle Canter.

Finally, spend the night inside a lavish, 4-star room at Jekyll Island Club Resort.

Clearwater Beach, Florida

Located near Tampa on Florida’s west coast, Clearwater Beach has soft sand, calm water, and plenty to do besides relax on the beach.

Pier 60 is in the center of Clearwater Beach. A playground is located near the pier as is a shop and restaurant. Clearwater Marina is across the street from Pier 60 and that is where to find boat tours and fishing charters.

Shops, restaurants, and hotels are both north and south of Pier 60. Sand Pearl is one of the few hotels that is located directly on Clearwater Beach. Their poolside restaurant, Tate’s Island Grill, is open to the public and has a beautiful view of the beach, especially at sunset. Clearwater Beach restaurants are known for their grouper sandwiches.

Clearwater Beach can get crowded during Spring Break. A quick drive from South Clearwater Beach will take you to Sand Key Beach or Indian Rocks Beach, both of which tend to be quieter.

There are public bathrooms located near the public parking lots on Clearwater Beach. Showers are often near each beach entrance.

The Jolley Trolley is a public bus that drives up and down Clearwater Beach. It goes as far south as Sand Key Beach and beachgoers can visit nearby towns to the north including Dunedin and Tarpon Springs. One-way tickets and all-day passes can be purchased on board.

Clearwater Marine Aquarium is located near the beach, but unlike a typical aquarium, they house sick or injured marine life.

Each Spring, the Sugar Sand Festival takes place on Clearwater Beach. The festival includes large sand sculptures, live music, and fireworks.

Bowman’s Beach, Florida

Bowman’s Beach is the best beach in southwest Florida, making it a must-visit destination on the East Coast of the USA. This gorgeous length of coastline is likely to capture your senses and give an amazing beach experience with its pristine shoreline, powdery white sand, and crystal-clear turquoise waters.

Bowman’s Beach is nestled on Sanibel Island, a tropical paradise renowned for its stunning natural beauty and abundant wildlife. You’ll realize why this beach is regarded as one of the greatest in the area as soon as you step foot on the fine, white sand. It’s difficult to match the sensation of peace that is created by the serene surroundings and spectacular vistas of the Gulf of Mexico.

In addition to sunbathing and swimming in crystal-clear waters, Bowman’s Beach offers a variety of activities for those seeking more than just a typical beach experience. If you encounter a rainy day, explore the J.N. “Ding” Darling National Wildlife Refuge, where you can see a variety of birds and other wildlife. You can also learn more about the amazing world of seashells by going to the Bailey-Matthews National Shell Museum.

I highly recommend the Sundial Beach Resort & Spa for when you need to unwind after a day of beachcombing and exploring. This opulent beachfront hotel is close by and provides cozy lodging, excellent amenities, and breathtaking views of the Gulf of Mexico. It’s the perfect place to relax and rejuvenate after a day of beach adventures.

Lake Worth Beach, Florida

Located on the East Coast of the USA, the Greater Palm Beach area offers a wealth of sun-soaked beaches and vibrant coastal towns. The city has an international airport, a vibrant business district and plenty of world-class restaurants.

While there are numerous beaches to choose from when visiting the Great Palm Beach area, one beach that stands out is Lake Worth Beach. Here’s why you should make your way down to this idyllic spot.

Lake Worth Beach is a hidden gem. The beach has gold sands, great waters for windsurfing, and a tranquil atmosphere that is perfect for a relaxing day by the sea. With its well-maintained facilities and amenities, Wellington Beach offers an enjoyable beach experience.

At Lake Worth Beach, you’ll find a convenient boardwalk that stretches along the shoreline.  The beach also has a fantastic pier that juts out, with a restaurant on the pier and the option of fishing off the end.

Snooks Island Natural Area is a great palace to visit if you simply want to hang out on a boardwalk and observe nature. Outside of the beach, downtown Lake Worth has an amazing mix of eclectic shops and art galleries. You can find a lot of unique art, antiques, and locally made crafts.

For accommodations near Lake Worth Beach, the Four Seasons Resort Palm Beach is located right on the water in Lake Worth and has top-notch amenities.

Crandon Park Beach, Florida

Crandon Park Beach is a stunning beach located on the East Coast of the USA, right off Key Biscayne in Miami.

This magnificent beach has everything one could ask for when looking for a great place to get away from it all and enjoy some quality time with loved ones. The white sand and crystal clear waters make for an incredibly relaxing day by the shore.

Facilities include a variety of beach umbrellas and chairs, outdoor showers, restrooms, and picnic tables. The parking fee is $5 on weekdays and $7 on weekends.

If you are looking for something to do other than laying out in the sun, then you can visit The Cape Florida Lighthouse which offers beautiful views from atop its 95-foot tower. Tourists can also explore the Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park, bike in the Bear Cut Preserve, or dive in the Neptune Memorial Reef, an underwater cemetery.

In addition, Key Biscayne is the perfect starting point for a day trip to Key West, stopping at Key Largo, Islamorada, and Marathon Key

If you are looking for a place to stay while enjoying all that Crandon Park Beach has to offer, then The Ritz Carlton Key Biscayne is just perfect. Smather’s Beach, Key West, Florida

If you’re visiting Miami, visiting Key West for a day or two is a must! Known for its beautiful Caribbean beaches, Key West offers sandy white beaches! Your Key west Itinerary is incomplete without visiting Smather’s Beach! Located at South Roosevelt Boulevard and 2 miles from Key West center, Smather’s Beach is free public beach in key west. It is the most amazing place to watch the sunset or better to watch the sunrise!

The beach is half a mile long and it fills quickly, so I would suggest arriving early as the Parking lot fills quickly! There is street parking available in the surrounding area but it may be crowded later in the day!  The beach is the best spot for sunbathing, swimming, and having turquoise blue water with amazing ocean views! You can also indulge in many water activities like Parasailing, Kayaking, and paddleboarding. There aren’t many options to eat on the site, so I recommend bringing your own food and drinks to have the best picnic on the beach!

Amenities: You can find picnic tables, barbeque grills, restrooms, beach chairs and umbrellas on rent, and showers for public use on the beach.

Where to Stay: Margaritaville House Keywest is the best option to stay, just a short walk from the beach.

If you want to have Caribbean beach vibes in the USA, Smather’s Beach is perfect to add to your list!

Dry Tortugas National Park, Florida

Located 70 miles off the coast of Key West, Florida, Dry Tortugas National Park covers an area of 100 square miles.

So, it is here that you’ll find a group of seven different islands that are home to some of the best beaches on the East Coast of the USA. Therefore, some of the best beaches in the Dry Tortugas include South Swim Beach, Seaplane Beach, Dinghy Beach, and North Swim Beach.

However, to get to this tropical oasis you’ll need to visit by way of seaplane or via a ferry from Key West. That being said, the latter is more financially viable since tickets cost $190.00 per adult. And while the journey aboard the Yankee Freedom III takes around 2 hours, it’s worth it since tickets include breakfast/lunch and offer access to deserted tropical islands and remote coral reefs.

So, after relaxing on the best be sure to explore historic Fort Jefferson before snorkeling near the Moat Wall and kayaking out to Loggerhead Key to see some sea turtles.

Then, once you arrive back in Key West spend the evening inside a room at Ocean Key Resort and Spa. It’s a gorgeous, 4-star hotel that overlooks Sunset Pier and the harbor.
